Why We Love Aubade
During the event, we talked about what makes Aubade such a standout brand, and it starts with a story that stretches back nearly 150 years.
Aubade’s roots go back to 1875, when a French doctor named Bernard founded a corsetry workshop. In 1958, the Pasquier family acquired that workshop and its technical know-how and launched the Aubade lingerie house in Paris. At a time when lingerie was mostly about function and shaping, Aubade went another way, treating lingerie as something sensual, glamorous, and made for the woman wearing it.
That spirit of invention has defined the brand ever since. Aubade is credited with introducing the matching lingerie set, with tops and bottoms designed in coordinated colors to be worn together, and with pioneering styles we now take for granted, including strapless and backless bras and the iconic front-fastening “heart clasp.” Its black-and-white advertising, especially the long-running “Lessons in Seduction” campaign, became a French cultural landmark.
Today, that heritage meets modern expertise. A single Aubade bra is built from at least 24 components, each assembled with meticulous precision, and the brand continues to develop softer, more innovative, and more responsible fabrics without losing its signature comfort. French lingerie has a way of balancing elegance and everyday wearability, and Aubade does it beautifully. These are pieces made to be worn and loved, not saved for special occasions.

One of the most meaningful moments of our trunk show was a conversation with Laurel McAteer, who shared her experience as a breast cancer survivor. Her honesty and strength were a reminder of why this work matters.
Laurel’s story speaks to something we believe deeply: a bra can be far more than a garment. For many women, it’s part of reclaiming comfort, confidence, and a sense of self, especially through a journey as demanding as breast cancer. Feeling at home in your body is not a luxury. It’s part of how we heal, how we show up, and how we feel like ourselves.
